Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions we’re often asked by our customers.

How can I book?

If you have received or purchased a voucher, then please ring 0330 0101851 between 9:30am and 5pm to be booked in with our bookings team.

Alternatively, email info@portraitappointments.co.uk with your contact details (including phone number and email address) and a member of the team will be in touch to get you booked in.

If you haven’t purchased a voucher for a session but would like to book, then please go to our Voucher Page to purchase a photography experience!

Why do I have to go to the studio 3 times?

You will need to go to the studio 3 times for the following reasons:

  1. To attend your session
  2. To attend your viewing session
  3. To pick up any orders your may have made

Why do we have to pay a refundable booking deposit?

The majority of our Approved and Recommended studios will request a deposit to secure your session.

With all photography sessions we allocate an amount of time from start to finish to ensure you completely enjoy your experience. More importantly for competitions and when we support local Charities and Schools to help them raise funds we are giving away our time.

We realise that things happen that may be outside of your control and should you need to move your appointment, then please do contact us. We just ask that you give us 5 day’s notice. Your deposit is 100% refundable at the viewing stage of the experience.

What is the cost to purchase images/products from the session?

We work with a number of different independent photographers who are Barrett & Coe Approved and Recommended studios, as well as our own.

Because we work with approximately 100 photographers, we do not have all of their pricelists on file, so we cannot give a definitive answer on prices.

The cost of photography products is something you can discuss with your photographer once an appointment has been booked.

At the viewing that follows your session, you will be provided with a price guide by your photographer.

They will go through their product range, advise on price and give guidance on how products can be ordered.

Although you are welcome to purchase products or images there is no obligation to do so.

How long is the session?

Your session will typically last for 1 hour. This ensures that your photographer captures as much of a variety of shots as they can.

Can I bring a pet?

Yes the majority of our studios allow for pets, as they’re part of the family too! Make sure to let your photographer or our bookings team know prior to your session so this can be accommodated for you.

Will I have to pay for the viewing?

No, your viewing session is free.

Will my viewing session be after my initial session?

Typically studios will hold the viewing session 1 week or so after the initial session, this is to make sure that your photographer has enough time to prepare the images from your session for you to view.

Do you sell digital images?

Yes, the majority of our studios allow you to purchase your images as digital files if you choose to do so.

How many people can attend?

Our studios are equipped to accommodate from 2-12 people maximum, do make sure that you let our bookings team know the amount of people you’re planning to bring beforehand so that the photographer can prepare the studio.

How do I reschedule my appointment?

If you need to reschedule your appointment, please contact your photographer with as much notice as possible. They will then look to rearrange your booking.

Do I have to be included?

Your session must include at least 2 people, if you come to your session with 2 other people then you will not have to participate in the session although we do encourage all members of the family to be involved.

Do you have disabled access?

Where possible, our studios provide disabled access in order to accommodate any needs our visitors may have. Where studios are unable to provide full disabled access, we will make every effort to find an alternative studio to accommodate client needs.

What should I wear?

It is completely up to you what you would like to wear although many people opt for plain smart clothing as not to clash with any backdrops etc.

Can we bring an outfit change?

Yes if you would like a change of outfit then feel free to bring one.

How long do I have to wait for my order?

The turn around time is usually no longer than 28 days. Please allow extra time during the run up to Christmas.

Can I enter the Baby of the Month competition?

All of our Barrett & Coe studios participate in the Baby of the Month competition so be sure to ask them about entering during your session, but there is no obligation to do so.

Can I enter the SuperDog of the Month competition?

All of our Barrett & Coe studios participate in the SuperDog of the Month competition so be sure to ask them about entering during your session but there is no obligation to do so.

What if my baby doesn’t settle?

Our photographers have training and experience which allow them to move and pose your baby with minimal disruption, although this doesn’t always prevent an unsettled baby, so we assure the parents that they are able to rebook their session.
