Barrett & Coe Heritage

Barrett & Coe is the longest-established professional portrait business in the UK, probably the world.

John Sawyer began taking photographic portraits in Norwich in 1854 and gradually passed the business over to Albert Edward Coe, the Great Grandfather of the current owner Andrew Coe (4th generation).

The two images (below) taken in 1885 and 1888 show the connection between Albert E. Coe and Sawyer and Bird.

The other image is of Albert Edward Coe, who was born in 1844 and died in 1928.
